Hey Mamas! We are in 2020 Quarantine and after the ending of a crazy semester, we’ve decided not to send Sweet T back to school. It was a tough decision to make because she LOVES school. But this mama couldn’t bring herself to send her back with the unknown.
So far, we are doing well and I’m surprised I’m actually enjoying it. As a mompreneur, with house chores and cooking on my lists, homeschooling has been fun and Sweet T has been learning and retaining the information!

Since we are two months in, I’d like to share some tips on what made this process of becoming a homeschool mom easy and simple.
Set a 2-3 Hour Block For Actual Learning
There’s no need for a 5, 8, or 10-hour schedule for learning with your child. Take it slow and do what is best for your child (and most importantly YOU!) If you’d like to know how we set our schedule for our toddler every week, click here.
Have a Dedicated Space For Learning
We made the mistake of starting our learning experience at the dinner table. Not Good. So I decided to move us upstairs (away from any high traffic area) to get her work done. If you don’t have the extra space, clear a space in your home and buy a desk and prepare a wall in front of it for learning only. I recommend you go to the Dollar Store or Amazon to find wall decor and subjects for preschool.
Invest in an App or Video Game for Learning
On those busy days, we don’t have time to sit with each other and do worksheets or hands-on crafts, our apps, and video games have been a lifesaver. We have invested in ABCMouse and also a few free apps for her iPad and for her Kano PC.
Invest in a Reading System for Support
I think ALL preschool parents should have a supporting system for reading. There are so many out there on the market. We were gifted the 4 Weeks To Read, but they have so many more like Hooked On Phonics, My Baby Can Read, Little Champion, Reading Eggs, and more.
Get FREE or Cheap Worksheets for Your Child
There are so many worksheets on Pinterest that are perfect for toddlers for preschool. I also found the best website to buy them (for 50 cents!) as well if I can’t find the subject or season I’m looking for on Pinterest. You should follow my board on Pinterest because I’m always pinning the free worksheets!
Use Fridays as Learn Through Play Activities
This is also a perfect way to lighten your load (and your toddlers) for some fun! I recommend checking out my Pinterest board for ideas and also getting outside to play. These are the major ways toddlers learn the alphabet, numbers, and all the basics for your toddler.
Bonus: Prepare for the Next Week on Thursdays!
I make try to make sure that I have some type of plan for the next week. Whether it’s reviewing our focus wall or getting prepared some of the things we missed that week. Always have a plan before the week comes. It will save you the stress and headache!

These tips have been making this homeschooling journey go well. I hope this helps you and please leave a comment and share these tips!
