As a melanated girl, I’ve learned it’s important to have certain attributes in my skincare. At this age (Can you guess?), testing and trying new products can become a problem, especially with dry sensitive skin. And after some recent drama with my skin, I’ve been adamant about choosing carefully which ingredients are in the skin products I use.
In the earlier part of this year, I had major concerns about my skin that involved acne and the dark spots that came after. What I learned is that my skin would flare during certain times of the month and also, when I was using too many chemicals on my face at once. I was prescribed a few products to help reduce the acne and also help to prevent hyperpigmentation on the skin.
What I quickly learned, is that my skin did not appreciate the sudden change. After a week of regimented washing (morning and night) and following the steps given by a dermatologist, my skin was not ready or able to handle the products she prescribed.

After a few days of burning skin, I went back to Mother Earth herself to heal my flaming and itchy chin. I stopped using the prescribed products and used Aloe Vera (from the plant) and Vaseline ONLY. It was a tough two weeks, but those two things healed my skin.
After that horrible experience, I vowed to only use products that were clean, natural, and great for melanated skin. I also understood that simple ingredients were the best for dry and sensitive skin.
I having dry skin does not leave you any room for easy. The Derma E Turmeric Rice Gently Cleansing Wash was so amazing and literally my favorite. After washing my face with this cleanser, my skin did not feel rough or dry which amazed me! I absolutely love that turmeric is an added ingredient to this because turmeric can help even out the skin tone. The rice in the face wash helps the skin to build collagen and also helps prevent wrinkles.
This skin care line also has Vitamin C which of course is such a great ingredient for hyperpigmentation and dark spots caused by inflammation of the skin. It’s the one ingredient that every brown girl should look for in her skincare. Vitamin C will brighten and allow the skin to look more youthful.
This skincare line is so GENTLE to the skin which is perfect for those who have sensitive skin. I’ll be using this for the rest of the year! If you’d like to purchase this skincare line, click here.

Have you tried products with Vitamin C before?
Please let me know if you try this product! I’d love to know your thoughts! Special thanks to Derma E for sending me this skincare line.
