This Covid-19 pandemic has not only plagued our daily lives in how we operate but it has completely dismantled the entire traveling experience throughout the world. As a means of preventing ourselves from getting the virus, strict measures must be implemented to ensure a relatively safe trip. We have NOT gotten on a plane as of yet and have only taken road trips to minimize the chances of coming in contact with the virus. The tips below will cover how to maniuver you and your family before and during your arrival to your destination. Here are a few tips that have helped us travel during the pandemic.

Research the Rules Regarding Covid-19 Before You Travel

Each city/country has different rules used to contain the spread of Covid-19 amongst its citizens. It’s important to know the protocols before you travel so you can be prepared to function within that environment. Depending on the city/country more drastic measures might be implemented like a city/town complete lockdown thus limited to no movement is allowed, early morning and nighttime curfews, quarantining for 2 weeks before public appearances, and mandatory and approved face mask-wearing. Be diligent about understanding the rules so there won’t be any surprises.

Research Airport, Airline, and Hotel

If you are traveling by plane, I recommend researching the guidelines for the airport and the airline. It is also important to understand the protocols for each building you plan on visiting. These places should all have protocols that make sure their patrons are safe while visiting and traveling. The uncertainty that comes with containing a virus is already worrisome, but if there is a spike causing an increase of cases you will be prepared. As we all know, what was yesterday’s rule might be completely different the next day.

Bring Your Own Bed Sheets

Only you can guarantee yourself peace of mind when the sheets you and your family will be sleeping on are CLEAN. This means that when you bring your own bed sheets you have some assurance you are laying on sheets that were properly cleaned. As we know, the spread of the virus is said to be in different ways. By bringing your own bed sheets you are comforted each time your body interacts with where you will sleep. This is one step that can be taken to ensure you are safe from any interaction with the virus.

Bring Your Own Pillows

If you know anything about pillows, they trap germs, dead skin cells, and bacteria even with a clean covered pillowcase. Bringing your own pillowcase will ensure that you are not placed in a compromised position of interacting with the virus through the hotel’s pillows. Pillows can be washed, steamed, and heated to remove bacteria but to prove this was done is mainly the issue. So the best way to ensure your safety is to sleep on your personal pillows.

Bring Disinfectant Spray and Wipes

Sanitization is the key tip to traveling during Covid-19. Though throughout your travel experience varying disinfecting methods may be offered and utilized to hinder the spread of the virus, you want to ensure you have your own personal disinfecting items. These should always be easily accessible and provided to the family regularly especially if you have toddlers who can’t help but touch everything. Ensure that the active ingredient includes over 60% alcohol to guarantee optimum protection from contracting the virus.

Wear Your Mask in Public At All Times!

Though this should be an obvious method to ensure protection from this virus, most people are either rebellious or forgetful when it comes to wearing their masks in public. One thing is for sure, you can’t control what someone decides to do but you can control what you decide to do to ensure safety for you and your family. This means making it mandatory to wear your mask at all times when you are in public. You will be visiting restaurants, walking past strangers, and interacting with the staff at your lodging places. Remember that you are protecting yourself and your family when you wear a mask!

We are hoping and praying that this new vaccine will help keep the spread under control. I hope this is helpful for you and your family and continue to stay safe while and healthy.
