Top 10 Newborn Products

Your a new mom! Congratulations!

Don’t panic though. This is your go-to for the top 10 products you need to get through this new thing called “NEW Motherhood”.

I’ve been a successful mom for almost 24 months (HA!) and I’m pretty sure I spent too much on things I (or the baby) didn’t need.

Simple Black Nylon Diaper Bag

Yes, I was the mom that bought the super cute (and expensive) cotton bag with my babies initial on the front. But, oh did I quickly learn that honestly, it was too big and while I was out and about it got dirty fast! So after much annoyance (and harping from my husband) we bought a simple black nylon diaper bag that was easy to carry and won’t show every marking it came in contact with. A fun way to add personality (and to notice it around other black bags) is to add a cute inexpensive keychain.

Pack N Play

I wouldn’t buy those cute little bassinets. Seriously. Your baby will outgrow it and you’ll be purchasing something for your baby to sleep or nap in before you know it. It’s better just to get your little one used to ONE common area that they will know the action for.

Baby Wipe Warmer

My Little One screamed every time I placed cool whip on her bottom. I was gifted a wipe warmer and her changes were much more quieter. As a new mom, I didn’t know that this would be one of the things that made changing diapers easier and quicker.

Boppy Pillow

This was my breastfeeding side-kick. My back began to hurt when I tried holding her on my own. I even tried to use regular pillows were too hard or to large for my little girl. This was even helpful for my mom and husband to feed her as well. Everybody will love the Boppy Pillow!

Dr. Brown Bottles

My little one had trapped air in her tummy a lot, and these were the perfect bottles to use. They are also very durable, just make sure to boil them often!

Vaseline

I use this for her slight eczema breakouts, for her diaper after every change with she was smaller, and also for her sometimes dry scalp. After every bath, I lather her up and she loves it! An all around product that can be used for many things.

Bottle Drying Rack

This is a no-brainer but we did not receive one during the baby shower! Honestly, I didn’t think about it either until she arrived. I don’t like a lot of clutter, so I got one that didn’t take a lot of space on my counter.

Co-Sleeper

This is clearly controversial if you agree with co-sleeping or not, but being a first time mom and breastfeeding, I wanted immediate access to her. I LOVED our co-sleeper as it allowed her to sleep with us. The co-sleeper has walls where she was in somewhat of a cot instead of laying in the bed with us. It was great.

Wash Cloths

Baby skin is tender and sensitive, so use very soft and then wash cloths to make their bath’s more comfortable. Everyone bought me all the latest smell good shampoo and baby wash, but I realized I didn’t have any soft wash cloths to bathe her with.

Swaddle Blankets

I’d like to say my baby was very aware of her surroundings. She knew she was no longer in my belly and wanted to feel like she was when it was time for her to sleep. Swaddling her saved my life! I had reservations on my swaddling skills but I soon came an expert at bundling her. Just keep practicing!

I hope that these newborn essentials are helpful to you! These were the bulk of my interaction with my baby, so I know these can help you get through this new wonderful role that you have been blessed with!
