Beautiful Textures Dinner #TeamTextured

Beautiful Textures invited top beauty bloggers in Houston, TX for dinner to discuss new products to it’s hair collection. Our three course dinner was served at The Restaurant at Royal Sonesta Hotel as new products from Beautiful Textures were displayed on our tables.
As this was a more intimate setting, we were really able to discuss topics that were more open and also to ask more questions about the new products and how they can be used and styled with our hair textures.
Beauty Expert Kimberly Walker styled the models hair and also showed different ways you could use Curl Definer Mousse which is a product that can be used to define curls as well as a product that can be used to refresh your curls. The other featured new product was the Edges to Ends Silkener used smooth out edges and temples when wearing buns or ponytails. The Curl Definer Styling Custard is also a new product that can help with styling your curls and elongating your curls eliminating frizzy ends.

I really enjoyed the dinner and met some wonderful hair enthusiasts. I will be trying out these products as well and will let you know how my experience will be.
Thank you to Beautiful Textures for this opportunity!

African Pride Hair Care National Tour #UltimateBeautySocial

I was so delighted to have been invited (didn’t mean to rhyme!) to attend the African Pride Hair Care #UltimateBeautySocial National Tour as they stopped here in Houston, TX on April 6 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel. The guests at the event were treated with a nice brunch with mimosas that was hosted by HFB Founder and Blogger Shalanda of Live Life In Style, Natural Hair Blogger Tamara Floyd of Natural Hair Rules and Author Audrey Sivasothy of The Science Of Black Hair.
African Pride’s Content Director Camila Crews started the event with showcasing the African Pride products and how they can be used for your relaxed or natural. The models featured different hair styles using the products as well.

Since I have been wearing braids, I have always had my African Pride Braid Spray but never thought about trying the other products for my natural hair. Here’s what grabbed my attention about the brand: The Olive Miracle and Shea Butter Miracle products. These African Pride products helps keep your hair strong by dramatically reducing breakage and dryness. African Shea butter, olive oil, and herbal oil extracts are some of the ingredients that highlighted for breakage and dryness.

Now that I am starting to take better care of my hair and trying to get to know exactly what my hair likes, I have realized there are so many products out there and these types of events helps the customer to become aware of these products and how they are beneficial. I am so excited to try these products! I will come back and let you all know how these products affect my hair.

This event was so helpful and it was informative hearing point of views about individual hair stories and encouragement to strive for HEALTHY hair!

Brilliant Brand: eShakti

I live for clothes that are meant just for my body. My measurements. Down to the T. You’ve never really experienced a great dress if it wasn’t made just for you. It would be ideal if every major clothing company could have the option to size your own garment that hits your best features. Fit is important and I always here myself say “oh, I wish this were a bit loose” or “I wish this was a bit more fitted”.
If you haven’t heard of eShakti, I’ll give you the scoop on why it’s amazing:
eShakti is a fresh concept in custom clothing. This website offers basic cottons and modestly embellished clothing and can be designed and fit for customization for women size 0 through 36. (Great, right?!) eShakti features a 3-step design and fit page where you can increase the size of a bust, shorten the length and modify or a neckline.
So before purchasing, invest in measuring tape. This is ideal or you will be doing a lot of guessing. Also, it’s important to have this tool in your wardrobe anyway. Before ordering any clothes off of an online site, it should be imperative that know your measurements before purchasing.

This website is PERFECT for bridesmaids dress or special event dresses as well. Just think… you can transform one style, into MANY options!

The BEST REVIEW: HANAair Professional Hair Dryer

I was kindly sent this dryer from Misikko to review. “The Premiere Hair Dryer” is the nickname of this blow dryer. I’m going to divide my review into categories on what I think is important when purchasing a hair dryer.

SALON RECOMMENDED! This blow dryer is a bit heavy compared to your normal hair dryer. I’ve compared this dryer with my random one I purchased from a drug store and it doesn’t compare. The motor is of great quality which brings 2300 watts of power which is why it’s named one of the best hair dryers.

Another detail I noticed about this dryer is the cord. I know it’s random, but it caught my interest! lol The cord is a thick rubber extension which reminds me of a Cat-5 cable — ethernet cord for internet service — okay that was a little nerdy. Any who, it’s really thick and it doesn’t get tangled while drying your hair.

Drying Time
I mostly like to let my hair air dry for about 5-10 minutes before using a blow dryer, but normally it takes me 25 minutes to blow my hair from drench to completely dry. I decided to let my hair air dry exactly 5 minutes and preceded with this blow dryer and it took only 7 minutes to dry completely!

I must admit, I was a bit confused on the settings. The first time I turned it on it blew nothing but COLD air. I began to think that maybe the dryer had to ‘warm-up’ before the actually heat came out. Then I noticed the COOL button was pressed OUT. (see video)  There are three control settings on this dryer and I finally began to understand how this blow dryer worked. Using these settings allows you to regulate your heat setting. At first I was unsure about the settings, but began to LOVE my options.

There is only one attachment for this hair dryer, which is okay for me. If you normally use the ‘comb’ attachment for your hair dryer, this may be a negative for you.

Although this dryer comes with a lovely dust bag for traveling, it would definitely stay at home. It’s quite expensive at $195, but it’s lasted me seven months so far. It’s a dryer that you are able to control as far as temperature which is something that is important for me. The low emission of EMFs helps with the heat damage for your hair, so saving money for this tool would be an asset to your hair health.

To finish my hair styling, I used the Chi flat iron as well as Chi hair products such as the Chi Silk Infusion which makes my hair soft and protects it from further damage.

What do you think of this product? Do you have the HanaAir? Do you use a Chi flat iron or any of their hair products? I’d love your feedback!

Crochet + Cellfolio

I seriously can’t stand hauling a purse sometimes, especially during events. Conversing with friends, meeting new people, and lugging an awkward bag around is quite uncomfortable. It can be such a hassle to keep up with one more thing in a crowded space. And to fix the problem, the solution would be to just carry your phone, wallet, and keys, but my wallet is huge which makes me want to just carry the purse.
Of course someone had a wonderful idea to create a stylish phone holder that you didn’t mind carrying and letting anyone see. It holds your cellphone, credit cards, and even business cards. Jamie James, creator of the Jamie James Cellfolio, came up with this idea due to her struggles of her busy life. She created these stylish cell phone holders with the working and busy person in mind. And since Father’s Day is coming up, they even have styles for men. Click here to check them out and tell them I sent you!
I’d been searching and searching for a black crochet crop top, and was uber excited when I found one from Express. But I decided to keep looking in hopes I would find another one for a better price and I did! The crochet top I’m wearing was $7 dollars! I consider myself lucky with this bargain!

I Miss Boston.

Lately, I have been waking up thinking I’m in Boston. Feeling the urge to get dressed and walk down Newbury or Bolyston just to relax. As I sit here, I’m looking at old pictures to make sure I don’t forget what it looks like and the wonderful people I’ve met. I noticed that I hadn’t posted pictures of my last days there. So, here’s something a little different.

These last couple of pictures were taken from my sorority sister’s engagement dinner and my ‘Going Away’ dinner. We had so much fun salsa dancing and reminiscing over old times. Moving across country was actually pretty hard, but everyone I met made me feel at home.

I’ll be visiting soon and don’t forget me!
