Animal Instinct

Hey Dears! I hope you all had a good weekend. I didn’t go to any Halloween parties this year. Partly due to not really being interested but it was fun seeing costumes on Twitter and Instagram.
I’ve been dying to have an animal print blazer since last Fall, but the Zara one I wanted was way too expensive. Cato Fashions contacted me to go take a look at their new Fall collection and I was elated when I saw this cheetah print blazer. I was glad that the material was perfect for the Houston Fall weather. Not to thick or thin! They also have a very affordable jewelry. I purchased some adorable clustered pearl earrings that I’m wearing non-stop.
A lot of people I know wouldn’t dare wear black and brown together, but in this look the colors compliment each other in the correct places. Notice that my brown pieces are all accessories such as my shoes and bag. The blazer gives my all black ensemble a little life!

Featured: InStyle Special Issue 2012

Yes! I was featured in this year’s issue of InStyle Makeover 2012. I first got the news while on FB when a friend tagged me in a picture she took with her cellphone from the page. I searched high and low for this issue but didn’t seem to find it until it hit stands in mid-Sept.

I’m always searching for inspiration in magazines and how I can extend my wardrobe. I hate red (as you already know) and I was terrified of these white pants (you should already know why too) but I was determined to think outside of my box!

Houston Fine Art Fair

Art is always an inspiration to me. I’ve always been the one to make trips to local art fairs and museums. I love seeing peoples perspective on their creative thoughts and how they interpret their art work.
I was elated when I received a free pass to attend the Houston Fine Art Fair. When we first walked in, I could hear the crowds’ emotion of the art work and inquisitive facial expressions on how the artists portrayed their vision. So many wonderful artists! I took a couple of photos of my favorites.

I really enjoyed the last photo. The backdrop was made of thread spool of different colors. I was amazed at how creative this was! This piece of art would be a clothing designers dream!

Top 10 Beauty Picks

Hey guys! How’s your Monday going so far? Ultimately mine has been good, but I’m so freaking tired! I seriously need to stop acting like I’m a 18 years old again and start going to be at a reasonable time. Any who, last week Houston Tidbits hosted a beauty event at Neiman Marcus where they highlighted a few Houston bloggers to share their top 10 beauty picks. Neiman’s served cocktails and light bites and gave samples, testers, and demonstrations to all of the guests. It was a major turn out!

Madewell + Solange Fall 2012 Inspired

Madewell hit the nail on the head with the pieces it has for it’s Fall 2012 Collection. It was brilliant for Solange to be the spokesmodel for this collection as well. The stylist really brought the fun girl Solange is out of these pieces. Plus, it’s such a bonus that all of these looks can be recreated.

Solange has been the talk of the town for the last few months. From hair to style, she’s made some kind of influence in the fashion world.

Which is your favorite look from the collection?

Mixing bright colors in for Fall is essential to my wardrobe because I am not ready to let go of Summer!   Madewell’s stylish looks speak attitude and fun! Bravo to Madewell and Solange!

Summer Lips

Since Summer is coming to an end and Fall is around the corner, I thought I’d show you some of my go to lipsticks that I have been wearing. These colors have been on every trip I’ve been on and probably stashed in my purse while I was running errands.

I’m super excited to be wearing deep red lips for Fall. I adored it last Autumn/Winter and I knew it would be a trend that would return. I’ve even started to purchase a few things for my Fall wardrobe, but I feel pressured! I’m really not ready to let go of Summer. Summer please don’t go!!

Left to Right: Peach Stock, Siss, Hug Me, Morange, Violetta (LE).

What were some of your favorite colors to wear this Summer? Which colors are you ready to start wearing for Fall? Let me know!

The BEST REVIEW: HANAair Professional Hair Dryer

I was kindly sent this dryer from Misikko to review. “The Premiere Hair Dryer” is the nickname of this blow dryer. I’m going to divide my review into categories on what I think is important when purchasing a hair dryer.

SALON RECOMMENDED! This blow dryer is a bit heavy compared to your normal hair dryer. I’ve compared this dryer with my random one I purchased from a drug store and it doesn’t compare. The motor is of great quality which brings 2300 watts of power which is why it’s named one of the best hair dryers.

Another detail I noticed about this dryer is the cord. I know it’s random, but it caught my interest! lol The cord is a thick rubber extension which reminds me of a Cat-5 cable — ethernet cord for internet service — okay that was a little nerdy. Any who, it’s really thick and it doesn’t get tangled while drying your hair.

Drying Time
I mostly like to let my hair air dry for about 5-10 minutes before using a blow dryer, but normally it takes me 25 minutes to blow my hair from drench to completely dry. I decided to let my hair air dry exactly 5 minutes and preceded with this blow dryer and it took only 7 minutes to dry completely!

I must admit, I was a bit confused on the settings. The first time I turned it on it blew nothing but COLD air. I began to think that maybe the dryer had to ‘warm-up’ before the actually heat came out. Then I noticed the COOL button was pressed OUT. (see video)  There are three control settings on this dryer and I finally began to understand how this blow dryer worked. Using these settings allows you to regulate your heat setting. At first I was unsure about the settings, but began to LOVE my options.

There is only one attachment for this hair dryer, which is okay for me. If you normally use the ‘comb’ attachment for your hair dryer, this may be a negative for you.

Although this dryer comes with a lovely dust bag for traveling, it would definitely stay at home. It’s quite expensive at $195, but it’s lasted me seven months so far. It’s a dryer that you are able to control as far as temperature which is something that is important for me. The low emission of EMFs helps with the heat damage for your hair, so saving money for this tool would be an asset to your hair health.

To finish my hair styling, I used the Chi flat iron as well as Chi hair products such as the Chi Silk Infusion which makes my hair soft and protects it from further damage.

What do you think of this product? Do you have the HanaAir? Do you use a Chi flat iron or any of their hair products? I’d love your feedback!

On the Scene: Chicago

Chi-town! Love this city. Sky high buildings, major traffic, great scenery, and of course amazing shopping. It kind of reminded me of NYC. Fast paced, fashionable people, and an amazing restaurant on every corner. Four days was really not enough.
Since, I had heard good things about Topshop in Chicago, I made it a point to go and purchase some things. Didn’t have my camera there which was a bummer, but you’ll be seeing some pieces in upcoming outfit post.
Well, I hope you all are having a good week! I feel like summer is going by so fast!

It’s Friday people! Whoop Whoop!
Although, it’s wet here, it’s been VERY humid. My hair is hating it (as you can see the frizz above) and I’ve begun to understand why ladies LOVE hair spray in Texas (no offense). I’ve been on the hunt for a good one that doesn’t leave my hair hard, gives a natural sheen and affordable.

Any who, this past weekend, I went to Chicago for a conference and had a great time. I’ll be posting pictures of my stay there so be on the lookout!

What are your plans for the weekend?

Bendel Girl

Thought I would share my small purchases from Henri Bendel. Since the new store opened in Houston Galleria, I made my way to see the infamous brown and white strips had to offer. Decided to purchase some home fragrance and a coffee mug for my green tea.
Loved the store! They nearly have all the accessories you could ever imagine.

Sheer Madness

I’m in love with sheer shirts. (But you already know that.) And even though it’s warm (wait.. HOT!), these sleeves are lovely for keeping away mosquitos. (Madness!) Yet, this shirt has such an elegant flow that brings such a feminine touch.

This week was majorly hectic. Running around trying to find the perfect gift for The Mister, my first photography gig, my cousin going away on military leave, ongoing emails, and making appearances at events were a bit stressful. The Mister NEVER knows what he wants, but managed to tell me last minute which I was grateful for. I’m the type of gift giver that gives you EXACTLY what you want. I’ve had bad experiences with buying things you THINK the person will like. As far as my photography gig, I was super nervous but managed to make the best of it. I will soon be offering services and making this a new business venture, so be on the lookout! 🙂 And my cousin is pretty much my brother and its nerve racking knowing how he’ll be gone for some time. Please keep our family in your prayers!

Anywho, I’ve rambled enough tonight. Hello to my new friends who follow the blog! Hope you all have a fab weekend!

If you weren’t able to get your hands on the items you wanted in Baybrook, make sure you arrive EARLY at Willowbrook. There are major giveaways going on as well for H&M Houston. Click here and here!
